BOSTON, MA – In the early hours of Sunday, officers in Jamaica Plain arrested Joseph Remedor, 25, of Boston, on charges related to firearm possession. The arrest was made in the area of Canterbury Street and Walk Hill Street near St. Michael Cemetery.

While responding to a call regarding a congregation of vehicles and scooters causing a disturbance, officers witnessed a motor vehicle collide with a Massachusetts State Police vehicle and subsequently crash into a cemetery structure.

Remedor, a passenger in the vehicle, was reportedly seen discarding an object into the cemetery which was later identified as a Polymer80 firearm, loaded with seventeen rounds. Remedor is currently awaiting arraignment in West Roxbury District Court on charges of unlawful firearm and ammunition possession, resisting arrest, and unlawful possession of a large-capacity firearm.
