Fatal Collision in Newark Under Investigation by State Police

NEWARK, DE – The Delaware State Police are looking into a deadly collision that happened On Sunday night in Newark. At approximately 11:01 p.m., a 2004 Volkswagen GTI struck a 77-year-old woman from Newark who was attempting to cross Ogletown Stanton Road near the intersection at Cheswold Boulevard.

The victim, whose name is being withheld pending family notification, was not using a crosswalk and was not visible due to dark clothing and poor lighting. The impact hurled her onto a nearby 2015 Kia Forte. The driver and passenger of the GTI and the occupants of the Kia remained unharmed. The investigation resulted in a closure of the roadway for about three hours.
