Bucco Mourns Firefighters Killed Battling Cargo Ship Fire at Port Newark

Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco released the following statement mourning the tragic loss of two Newark firefighters who were killed in the line of duty while battling a cargo ship fire at Port Newark.

“Firefighters don’t hesitate to rush into dangerous situations where others may be waiting for their help,” said Bucco (R-25). “That’s the reality firefighters face every day. You train, you respond, and you pray that you’ll make it home at the end of your shift. Augie Acabou and Wayne Brooks were heroes whose sacrifice in the line of duty will not be forgotten. I offer my sincere condolences to their families, friends, and the Newark Fire Department.”
