Escaped Prisoner on the Loose in Manhattan

NEW YORK, NY – A prisoner being treated at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan has escaped from custody according to the New York City Police Department.

The New York City Police Department is now seeking the public’s help in locating an individual who escaped from Department of Corrections custody on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, around 4:30 PM, Yenchun Chen escaped from Department of Corrections custody at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, located at 281 1st Avenue. Chen fled the hospital by exiting a 5th-floor window onto the street. He then got into a southbound yellow taxi at approximately 4:36 PM and drove away on 2nd Avenue.

Yenchun Chen is a 44-year-old male with a medium complexion, standing about 6’3″ tall and weighing around 250 pounds. He has brown eyes, black hair, and tattoos on his left arm and left hand.

Chen was being held for drug possession on July 31 and has been incarcerated at the city’s West Facility. He was being held on $50,000 bail.
