On Monday, July 31, the California Highway Patrol’s Golden Gate Division and Cargo Theft Interdiction Program (CTIP) successfully recovered 48 pallets of stolen Sherwin-Williams paint in a warehouse facility in Stockton. The paint, initially stolen in Nevada, was traced back to the location, and its value is estimated at approximately $229,000.
The recovery is part of an ongoing collaboration between the GGD CTIP, other law enforcement agencies, and private industry to combat cargo theft, an issue that has grown in complexity and scale over the years. The successful recovery of this particular cargo was attributed to excellent communication between all parties involved.
The Cargo Theft Interdiction Program has been a focal point of the California Highway Patrol’s efforts to fight cargo theft since its creation in 1993. It serves as a central hub for information and coordination between various law enforcement agencies and private entities affected by cargo theft.
