Second Shooting in 10 Days Shakes Southern Pines

by Charlie Dwyer

SOUTHERN PINES, NC – A Wednesday evening shooting on Coats Street in Southern Pines left a man in his 30s with a gunshot injury to his back.

This is the second shooting reported by Sandhills Sentinel in a span of 10 days, a short distance from the initial incident.

The injured individual was flown to a trauma center, deemed in serious condition, after being transported to Memorial Park in Southern Pines.

Emergency crews, present at a nearby ball field, had to ensure a safe landing for the helicopter, especially as a Little League baseball team was practicing on-site.

Charles Campbell, the Southern Pines Police Deputy Chief, confirmed the shooting but reported no one in custody.
