Rabies Alert Issued in Hamilton Township

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ – Following two confirmed cases of rabies in the past week, health officials in the Township of Hamilton are issuing guidelines for residents to protect their families and pets.

Among the precautions, residents are advised to update their pets’ rabies vaccinations.

Other precautions include keeping pets on a leash, advising children to stay away from wild or stray animals, and never feeding or touching wild animals.

The Atlantic County Animal Shelter offers free monthly vaccination clinics for those interested.

Residents who experience animal bites should wash the wound immediately and seek medical attention. All animal bites should be reported to the Atlantic County Division of Public Health at (609) 645-5971.
