Brazil records trade surplus of nearly $9.8 billion in August

BRASILIA (Reuters) – Brazil posted a trade balance of of $9.767 billion in August, government data showed on Friday, above market estimates for a balance of $9.75 billion.

The month’s performance was explained by a 1.4% rise in the value of exports compared to the same period of 2022, while imports fell by 19.6%.

Imports totaled $21.444 billion and exports $31.211 billion.

The data also showed that the accumulated trade surplus for this year through August was $63.322 billion, up 44.8% from last year.
