Texas Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Killing Florida Man at Union Township Truck Stop

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – David L. Rodriguez, 47, of Alamo, TX, has been sentenced to a 20-year prison term after pleading guilty to first-degree aggravated manslaughter on June 22, 2022.

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson announced that Rodriguez is subject to the No Early Release Act and must serve 17 years before parole eligibility.

The sentencing follows a joint investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey State Police.

The incident took place on January 23, 2021, when Rodriguez fired several shots at Ricardo Menezes De Castro, 43, of Deerfield Beach, FL, during an argument at the Pilot Travel Center in Union Township, resulting in his death.

Rodriguez will be on parole supervision for five years following his release. First Assistant Prosecutor Joseph Paravecchia represented the State, while Jada Mayson-Osabu, Esq. represented Rodriguez.
