Multiple Suspects Plead Guilty in $197k Ironworkers Check Fraud Scheme

ALBANY, NY – Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced on Friday that multiple defendants have pleaded guilty in a check fraud scheme that resulted in losses exceeding $250,000 to local businesses. The scheme spanned from March 2021 through April 2022.

Turgaud Dubuisson, Anthony Dubuisson, and Marlon Tabora pleaded guilty to Grand Larceny in the Second Degree. Jishid Forrest pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree. Sentencing is scheduled for December.

The defendants engaged in fraudulent activities involving depositing altered and fraudulent checks into various bank accounts.

The total amount of forged checks from Ironworkers Local 417 alone is over $190,000.

The investigation was led by the Town of Newburgh Police Department and was assisted by multiple local law enforcement agencies.
