Cops Rescue Woman from Submerged Car in Forge River

MASTIC, NY – Five Suffolk County Police officers pulled a 53-year-old woman from her sinking car after she crashed into the Forge River on Tuesday.

Officers Thomas Ciota, Sean Roche, Steven Rathjen, Michael Magioncalda, and Ryan Kelly entered the water to retrieve the Shirley resident, who was driving a 2016 BMW i3. The vehicle had gone through a guardrail at the Hampton Avenue and Riviera Drive intersection before landing in the river.

The woman was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue for minor injuries. Officers involved in the rescue did not require medical attention.
