CHESTER CO. PA – Danelo Cavalcante has been captured by police in Pennsylvania after a weeklong manhunt around the Chester County region. Officials today said the nightmare is over and the good guys won.
Cavalcante escaped prison on August 31 where he was serving a life sentence for murdering his girlfriend because she became aware of a murder he committed before coming to America.
Police said Calvacante resisted arrest and made officers take him by force.
The first question asked by reporters after his capture was why police officers took a photo with the fugitive once he was in custody. Officials said that issue does not concern them at all.
After his capture, police involved in the search posed in a group shot with the convicted escapee.
Police thanked the public for their support in the search and understanding during the difficult past few weeks.
Police dismissed criticism saying there will always be people who think they can do better, but are happy with the results by professional law enforcement officers.
Cavalcante’s sister, who aided the fugitive is currently going through the deportation process according to officials.
