High Ranking FDNY Officer Arrested for DWI

NEW YORK, NY – Chad Bonaventura, a 48-year-old FDNY Lieutenant, was arrested on Thursday night within the jurisdiction of the 104th Precinct.

Bonaventura faces multiple charges including Driving While Intoxicated, Moving From Lane Unsafely, Impeding Traffic: Driving Too Slow, Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol, Refusal to Take a Breath Test, and Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle on Highway.

The arrest occurred at 2342 hours, when officers stopped the off-duty firefighter after observing erratic driving behavior. Following the stop, Bonaventura was administered a field sobriety test, which he failed.

The arrest is currently under investigation, and the FDNY has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident or Bonaventura’s employment status.
