by Breaking Local News Report

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ – Following a drowning event in the off-season and an ensuing legal action, Jenkinson’s has opted to shut down all of its beaches and access points for the season, according to Point Pleasant Beach Mayor Paul Kanitra.

“I have just been informed that as an apparent result of a drowning in the off-season, and a subsequent lawsuit, Jenkinsons has made the very unfortunate decision to close all of their beaches and all of their access points,” the mayor said in a statement.

Jenkinson’s is a privately-owned company that controls the majority of the beaches and access locations in Point Pleasant Beach.

The mayor the closure does not stem from a municipal decision. Maryland Avenue Beach, owned by the borough, remains open to the public under local beach regulations.

For further inquiries regarding the closure, individuals are advised to contact Jenkinsons directly at 732-892-0600. If no satisfactory response is received, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, responsible for overseeing beach access, can be reached at 609-777-3373.
