SILVER SPRING, MD – Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division is seeking the public’s help in identifying six suspects involved in an armed carjacking on September 22. The incident took place at around 8:30 p.m. in the 11600 block of Lockwood Drive.
The victims were trying to park their red 2016 Toyota Highlander when a gray 4-door sedan pulled up behind them, blocking their path. Two suspects exited the gray sedan, approached the Highlander, and brandished handguns. They forced the victims to exit their vehicle before driving away in the stolen Highlander, followed by the gray sedan.
Later, officers spotted the stolen red Toyota Highlander and the gray sedan speeding southbound on New Hampshire Avenue, both without headlights. Despite initiating a traffic stop, the driver did not halt, and the suspects remain at large.
A few hours after the carjacking, video surveillance captured the suspects using the victims’ credit cards at a gas station in Capitol Heights. On September 25, the stolen Highlander was found in Oxon Hill with substantial front-end damage, leading detectives to believe the suspects may have sustained injuries in a collision.
