Suspect Sought in Newark Shooting

NEWARK, NJ – Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is calling on the community for assistance in locating 25-year-old Deja Douglas.

She is wanted for questioning related to a shooting incident on Sunday, September 17.

The incident occurred around 3:20 a.m., where a female victim was treated at University Hospital for a gunshot wound, which was deemed non-life-threatening.

Reports state that after a verbal dispute, the victim was shot near Scott Street and Mulberry Street by a known male acquaintance. After the shooting, the victim managed to find refuge in another car, escaping the scene.

Douglas is described as being 5’4” tall with brown hair and eyes. Those with information about Deja Douglas or the incident are asked to contact the Newark Police Division’s tip line.
