If You See a Public Emergency Response in Teaneck Tomorrow, Here’s Why

by Charlie Dwyer

TEANECK, NJ – The Teaneck Police Department has announced that a “Gas Emergency Response Exercise” will be conducted tomorrow between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM at Votee Park. PSE&G, in collaboration with Teaneck first responders, will lead the exercise aimed at preparing for potential gas-related emergencies.

The drill is set to take place near the Votee Park field house but will not affect activities at the nearby Rodda Center. “These practical drills are a very important way to familiarize our first responders with procedures should a crisis occur,” the Teaneck Police Department stated in a recent Facebook post.

During the two-hour exercise, Palisade Avenue will be temporarily closed between Court Street and Colonial Court. Additionally, the walking track near the field house will also be closed off to the public.

Residents and commuters are advised to plan accordingly to avoid inconveniences during the exercise’s duration. Alternative routes should be considered to circumvent the closed sections of Palisade Avenue.

The exercise aims to equip Teaneck’s first responders with the necessary skills and protocols to manage a gas emergency effectively. The training represents a concerted effort between various agencies to ensure public safety in case of a real-life emergency.
