ERIE COUNTY, NY – Vincent E. Smith, 36, of Niagara Falls, entered a guilty plea on Friday before Erie County Court Judge James Bargnesi.

Smith is charged with Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

The charge originates from an incident on January 29, where Smith brandished an illegal pistol during a disagreement in Tonawanda.

After another party-goer intervened, Smith discharged the weapon and struck the individual with the gun. Despite a search at his Niagara Falls residence, the weapon was not recovered.

Smith’s sentencing is set for Monday, December 11, at 9:30 a.m., where he could face a sentence of up to 12 years to life in prison.
