PLAINFIELD, NJ — Following a two-week trial and three days of deliberation, a Union County jury found Jahaad Ingram, 23, and Zaire Wallace, 30, guilty of multiple charges, including first-degree murder, in a case prosecuted by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office and the Plainfield Police.
The charges stem from a shooting on Friday, July 9, 2021, that left Jennifer Vorn, 24, dead and another individual permanently paralyzed.
Plainfield Police responded to the scene at the intersection of Rock Avenue and West Front Street after a 9-1-1 call at approximately 1:55 p.m.
Evidence at trial revealed that Ingram and Wallace pursued the victims, opened fire on their vehicle, and later that evening, Wallace was apprehended in the same vehicle and Ingram was located nearby.
Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel praised the collaborative effort leading to the conviction and expressed gratitude to the community for aiding in the swift capture of the perpetrators. The date for sentencing has yet to be announced.
