SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – Suffolk County Police have apprehended Brandon Knapp, 27, for posing as an FBI agent and unlawfully detaining a woman.

The arrest followed a concerned family member’s intervention after a victim believed she was being followed.

The incident occurred on November 2 when Knapp deceived the 28-year-old victim into thinking he could provide safe house protection.

They departed from a Commack residence but were intercepted after a family member contacted police.

Knapp, from Center Moriches, faces charges for second-degree criminal impersonation and second-degree unlawful imprisonment. Detectives ask anyone with similar encounters involving Knapp to reach out to the Fourth Squad detectives.
