NEW YORK, NY — A robbery attempt was foiled at the Elmhurst Avenue and Broadway subway station on Sunday when an assailant’s attempt to steal a woman’s purse was interrupted by a bystander.

Authorities report that at approximately 11:10 AM, a 47-year-old woman was targeted by an unidentified male assailant while waiting for the southbound R-train.

The attacker, who has not been identified, forcefully shoved the woman in an attempt to seize her purse. However, his efforts were thwarted when an onlooker intervened, pushing the assailant away. The disturbance allowed the woman to retain her belongings as the assailant fled the scene without any of the victim’s property.
