UTICA, NY – The Utica Police Department has charged Tyrell Dowdell, 38, of Utica, with multiple counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The arrest occurred on Monday, after New York State Parole officers discovered a significant amount of narcotics during a routine search.

Dowdell, who was under supervision, had reported to the parole office when the contraband was found.

He was then handed over to a Special Investigations Unit member and an accompanying officer.

Charges against Dowdell include fourth and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He is now in the custody of the Utica Police Department pending further legal proceedings.
