After 49 Years, Police Not Giving Up Search for Killer in 1974 Murder

RICHMONDVILLE, NY — Nearly 49 years after Katherine Kolodziej’s murder, New York State Police persist in their investigation. Kolodziej, a student at the State University of New York at Cobleskill, was reported missing on November 2, 1974, after leaving the Vault Tavern.

Her body was found later that month on McDonald Road. Ruled a homicide, the case remains open. State Police Troop G and SP Princetown lead the inquiry, seeking public assistance.
