by Jeff Jones

EDGEWOOD, MD – A 16-year-old male in Edgewood is recovering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office leading the investigation.

The incident occurred on Friday, and was initially reported as a drive-by shooting.

Deputies and detectives arrived at the 1500 block of Harford Square Dr., providing emergency care to the victim with a thigh wound.

The investigation redirected to a nearby residence, where a search warrant led to the discovery of a spent bullet casing and a live round. Interviews and evidence collection concluded that the incident was accidental and not a drive-by shooting.

The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate, and charges may be pending. Public Information Officer Francis Sullivan asks anyone with information or relevant video footage to contact Detective Smith or use the Metro Crime Stoppers Tipline.
