SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y. – On Monday, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced the sentencing of former Babylon High School teacher, Timothy Harrison, 48, from Oak Beach.
Harrison received a three-year probation sentence following his guilty plea to Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The charges stemmed from incidents involving alcohol provision and sexual abuse of a 15-year-old student in 2013.
The investigation, led by the Suffolk County Police Department’s Special Victim Section, revealed Harrison’s misconduct, including sending flirtatious texts, giving alcohol, and engaging in sexual acts with the student at his residence.
Harrison’s guilty plea was entered in September, and as part of his plea agreement, he surrendered his teaching license.
On Monday, County Court Judge Karen M. Wilutis imposed the sentence, which includes sex offender conditions like housing restrictions and electronic monitoring. The plea agreement also ensures Harrison will not teach in New York State again, protecting the victim’s privacy.
