New York City Cop Attacked While Pursuing Moped Bandit

A New York City police officer sustained injuries while attempting an arrest of a moped bandit that engaging in drive-by robberies and thefts of residents. In recent months, New York City has experienced an increase in moped-based thefts where the actors strip residents of expensive items and flee the scene.

The incident occurred on Thursday, November 30, at about 2:25 PM near Riverside Drive and West 83rd Street. The officer was pursuing an unidentified male suspected of moped larceny when a second male, also unidentified, struck the officer from behind with a moped.

Following the attack, the individual on the moped escaped north on Riverside Drive, while the other suspect fled on foot into Riverside Park. The officer was taken to a nearby hospital with a broken right leg and is currently in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities seek information on the suspects involved.
