MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – Chief of Police Marcus Jones of the Montgomery County Police Department has issued holiday safety tips for the community.

In his message, Chief Jones emphasizes the importance of vigilance during both in-person and online shopping.

For in-person shopping, he advises staying close to family or friends, especially children, and recommends shopping in well-lit areas during the night.

He also stresses the importance of keeping personal belongings secure and not leaving shopping bags or valuables visible in cars.

For online shopping, Chief Jones suggests buying from reputable sellers to avoid counterfeit items. He also advises monitoring the delivery of online purchases to ensure someone is present to receive them.
