Double Life Sentence for Cobb County Double Murder Suspect

AUSTELL, GA – A court in Cobb County, Georgia, imposed a double life sentence plus 25 years on Lester Piercefield, 29, for the murder of a young couple and the severe injury of another individual. The sentence was announced by county prosecutors on Friday.

On July 11, 2022, Cobb County Police were called to an apartment at the 400 block of Westwood Place in Austell, following a report of a shooting. At the scene, officers discovered Yolanda Speller outside her residence with a gunshot wound to the face. Inside, Jeremy Davis, 27, and Lena Wolfe, 24, were found deceased, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and face.

Speller provided a description of the suspect and the vehicle, which police subsequently identified through surveillance footage. The footage revealed the suspect’s car entering and leaving the apartment complex early in the morning. Investigation led to the identification of the vehicle’s owner, Lester Piercefield, who was later apprehended in Paulding County.

Further investigation revealed that prior to the shooting, Piercefield had been in the company of Wolfe and Davis. The events escalated when Piercefield and Wolfe returned to Speller’s residence, where Davis was living. Shortly after their arrival, gunfire was heard; Speller, upon checking, was shot by Piercefield.

Prosecutors noted that Piercefield used two firearms in the attack, discharging at least eight rounds. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
