Christmas Day Shooter Sought in Newark

NEWARK, NJ – The Newark Department of Public Safety is requesting public assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a shooting that took place on Monday, December 25.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:20 PM at the intersection of 18th Avenue and Irvine Turner Boulevard. Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé emphasized the urgency in locating the suspect. Police describe the individual as a Black male with braided hair. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with white drawstrings, blue distressed jeans, and black shoes.

Detectives are actively investigating the shooting and urge anyone with information or who recognizes the suspect to come forward. The Newark Department of Public Safety assures that all tips will be treated with confidentiality.

Police remind the community not to approach the suspect, but to notify them immediately if you see or know the whereabouts of this suspect.
