Virginia Basketball Star Gets 20 Years In Prison After Son, 3, Found Dead in Freezer

by Jeff Jones

Richmond, VA – Kassceen “Kass” Weaver, a former University of Richmond basketball standout, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison following the tragic neglect and death of his three-year-old son, Adon. Weaver, 51, was convicted on charges including felony murder, felony child abuse/neglect, and aggravated malicious wounding.

Prosecutors revealed that on the night of October 23, 2018, when Adon experienced a medical emergency, Weaver failed to provide necessary medical care. In an attempt to conceal the incident and prevent his other son from being removed from the home, Weaver stored Adon’s body in a freezer for several years.

Weaver, who faced a potential maximum sentence of 55 years, was convicted earlier this year on all charges brought against him.
