Newark Police Request Public Assistance in Identifying Auto Burglary Suspect

NEWARK, NJ – The Newark Police Division, led by Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé, is seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an auto burglary.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 2, in the 100 block of Halsey Street.

At around 9:30 a.m., officers were alerted by a victim who discovered his 2009 Dodge SUV ransacked with the driver’s side window broken. Items reported stolen include an iPhone and AirPods.

The suspect, described as a Black male, was seen wearing a black face mask, a black puffy coat with “Moncler” lettering, black pants, and white sneakers with black trim.

Director Fragé encourages anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All tips provided anonymously through Crime Stopper are kept confidential and may lead to a reward.
