Officer-Involved Shooting in Upper St. Clair

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA – A shooting incident unfolded in Upper St. Clair, involving local police and a 48-year-old male resident. The incident began with a domestic situation reported to the Upper St. Clair Emergency Dispatch at 2:55 PM.

After consulting with a family member and Allegheny County Mental Health, it was decided that an involuntary commitment order would be obtained for the male. When Upper St. Clair officers attempted to execute the order, the individual threatened them with a knife.

The situation escalated at 8:39 PM when the male, armed with a knife, confronted the South Hills Area Council of Government’s Crisis Intervention Response Team.

Despite commands to disarm, the male advanced towards the officers, prompting multiple officers to discharge their firearms. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has taken charge of the investigation into the shooting.
