Officials Monitoring Rockaway and Passaic River Levels for Possible Cresting and Flooding

by Charlie Dwyer

PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, NJ – The Parsippany Police Department, via their Facebook page, informed residents of the ongoing monitoring of the Rockaway and Passaic Rivers. The Rockaway River, which crested yesterday, is currently at the Minor Flood Level stage as of 7:30 AM. The Passaic River is expected to crest tomorrow, January 12, 2024.

Consequently, the Knoll Rd and Vail Rd bridges into Montville are closed, along with New Rd between Rt. 46 and South Edwards Rd. Despite these conditions, no evacuation orders have been issued, and current forecasts do not anticipate major impact on Parsippany homes. However, residents are advised to stay updated through township and police department social media for potential changes and instructions, including possible evacuation. Further updates will be provided as needed.
