Probation Check Leads to Firearms Discovery and Arrest in Oneida County

UTICA, NY — A routine probation home check by Oneida County Probation officers on January 11 led to the discovery of multiple firearms and subsequent arrest in Utica.

The check was conducted at a residence on Emerson Ave, where Jarule Jenkins, 22, was under supervision. During the search, aligned with probation conditions, officials found four handguns within the premises.

Both Jenkins and an unidentified female were detained and taken to the Utica Police Department for further questioning.

Following the investigation, Utica Police GIVE investigators, in collaboration with Oneida County Probation, charged Jenkins with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Violation of Probation.

The ongoing investigation focuses on the origins and ownership of the other firearms found at the location. This case highlights the critical role of probation checks in maintaining public safety and enforcing legal compliance.
