Subway Assault Suspect Arrested in Queens

NEW YORK CITY, NY – The New York City Police Department has announced the arrest of an individual in relation to an assault that occurred on the subway.

On Wednesday, at approximately 5:51 am, a 42-year-old male victim was aboard a southbound D train at the 59 Street-Columbus Circle subway station when he was attacked. The assailant, identified as Mark Ford, a 27-year-old male from Queens, NY, stabbed the victim in the right shoulder before fleeing.

Ford was apprehended on Thursday, and is facing charges of assault and criminal possession of a weapon. The victim, who suffered minor injuries, was privately transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Woodhull and is reported to be in stable condition.

The NYPD had previously requested public assistance in identifying the suspect, providing media and descriptions through DCPI. Ford was last seen fleeing onto a northbound 2 train. He is described as having a medium complexion and a slim build, and was wearing a brown leather jacket with a green hooded sweatshirt underneath, light-colored pants, and black sneakers at the time of the incident.
