Akron Police Investigate Critical Hit and Run Incident Involving Pedestrian and Bicycle

Akron, OH – A critical hit-skip incident involving a pedestrian on a bicycle is currently under investigation by the Akron Police Department.

On Friday afternoon, at around 4:07 p.m., Akron Police officers were dispatched to the intersection of S. Arlington and Ray Streets. Upon arrival, they discovered a 47-year-old man unconscious on the ground, who had been struck by a car. EMS transported the victim to Summa Health Akron City Hospital with injuries that could be life-threatening.

The identity of the victim is being withheld as the investigation continues and next of kin are notified. Initial reports indicate that the victim was traveling north on S. Arlington Street on a bicycle when a white sedan, turning onto Ray Street, hit him. The vehicle’s driver fled the scene without assisting the severely injured man.

Authorities are actively seeking to find the vehicle and identify the driver responsible for the incident.
