Driver Flees After Striking and Killing Pedestrian in Absecon

Absecon, NJ – Authorities are on the hunt for a driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that resulted in a pedestrian’s death on the evening of February 17, 2024.

The deadly incident took place just after 9:00 PM in the westbound lane of U.S. Route 30, near the Executive Lodge motel, east of Turner Avenue, where a driver struck a pedestrian and fled the scene.

The crash led to a disruption of traffic flow on U.S. Route 30 for about 5 hours as authorities conducted their investigation

The Absecon Police Department is appealing to the public for assistance in locating the vehicle responsible, which is expected to have significant front-end damage from the collision. Witnesses or anyone with information about the incident are encouraged to contact the Absecon Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit by calling (609) 641-0667 ext. 214, and ask for Ptl. Da’Zhon Bethea, the lead traffic investigator.
