Rapid Fire Department Response Saves Church From Major Damage

PERTH AMBOY, NJ – The Perth Amboy Fire Department swiftly contained a fire at a local church, ensuring no injuries were reported.

On Monday, February 19, at approximately 3:53 PM, fire units were dispatched to a church at 260 State Street following reports of smoke emanating from the steeple. Upon arrival, responders found visible smoke and immediately commenced firefighting efforts.

The fire, located within the church’s roof where contractors had been working, was quickly extinguished by a hose line stretched up to the steeple.

Firefighters accessed the fire from both the exterior and interior, performing overhaul operations to ensure the blaze was fully extinguished.

The fire was ruled accidental, with no injuries reported during the incident.
