Lakewood Man Faces Multiple Charges After Narcotics Investigation in Toms River

Toms River, NJ – Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer has announced the arrest of Jamar Montgomery, 30, of Lakewood, following a comprehensive two-week investigation into illegal narcotics distribution centered around the Freedom Village Apartment Complex in Toms River.

The investigation, a collaboration between the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force and the Toms River Township Police Department, pinpointed Montgomery as allegedly using a residence on Dream Court for storing and distributing drugs. On February 8, 2024, surveillance teams observed Montgomery engaging in suspicious activity, which led to an attempted vehicle stop when it was discovered his driving privileges were suspended. Montgomery fled, initiating a reckless pursuit that was eventually terminated by officers.

That same evening, authorities executed a search warrant at Montgomery’s Dream Court residence, uncovering significant quantities of crack cocaine, marijuana, heroin, methamphetamine, paraphernalia related to drug distribution, and around $4,850 in cash. This led to Montgomery being charged with multiple counts related to the possession and intent to distribute various controlled substances, along with financial facilitation of criminal activity.

Montgomery was spotted again on February 20, 2024, leading to another arrest attempt. After initially fleeing and barricading himself in his residence, Montgomery eventually surrendered. A subsequent search of his home and vehicle resulted in the seizure of more marijuana and distribution-related paraphernalia.
