Man Attacked with Baseball Bat in Toms River Over Unpaid Rent

TOMS RIVER, NJ – The Toms River Police Department is investigating after a man was attacked on Walnut Street over a dispute regarding unpaid rent.

According to police, Alfredo Fernandez assaulted a tenant with a baseball after a verbal disagreement over the money owed. The victim had a serious injury to his right forearm and was treated at Community Medical Center for a possible broken wrist.

Police charged Fernandez with the assault, but the situation was made more difficult for police as neither of the men spoke English.

He was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
