Tow Truck Driver Killed Man During Parking Dispute in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY — A parking dispute escalated into a fatal confrontation on Saturday, March 16, 2024, resulting in the death of a 61-year-old man. The incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. at 1143 Clarkson Avenue in the East Flatbush neighborhood.

According to the New York City Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call reporting an assault in progress. Upon arrival, they learned that the altercation began as a disagreement between a tow truck driver and another individual over parking. The argument turned physical when the 30-year-old man punched the older man in the face, causing him to fall and strike his head on the pavement.

Emergency Medical Services were immediately called to the scene, and the 61-year-old victim was transported to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at 9:17 p.m. The 30-year-old assailant was taken into custody at the scene, with the investigation by law enforcement continuing.

The identity of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of his family.
