Baltimore Woman Wins $1 Million in Powerball After Unplanned Ticket Purchase

by Lottery Results

BALTIMORE, MD – A serendipitous Powerball ticket purchase has made a Baltimore woman a millionaire, claiming a $1 million prize from the March 18 drawing.

A retired law enforcement employee, she typically buys scratch-offs as gifts but decided to add a Powerball ticket on a whim while shopping in Timonium, inspired by a coincidental song on the radio and a sign at Royal Farms #003. The draw date matching a friend’s birthday prompted her to buy an additional ticket for herself with spare change.

Her friend’s thankfulness for the scratch-offs and a $7 win from his Powerball ticket prompted her to check her own, leading to the discovery of her million-dollar win. Overwhelmed with joy, she plans to use her windfall for bills, home remodeling, helping family, and donating to charities.

Royal Farms #003 will receive a $2,500 bonus for selling the winning ticket. This marks the third $1 million Powerball ticket sold in Maryland in 2024.
