Newark Police Seeking Suspect Wanted for Violent Attack with Baseball Bat

NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Department of Public Safety is calling on the public to aid in identifying a suspect involved in a violent assault with a baseball bat that took place on March 24, 2024. The incident occurred early in the morning, around 6 a.m., at the corner of Broad and Murray Streets, where the victim was attacked while waiting for a bus.

According to reports, the victim was approached by the suspect and another individual, who questioned him about a supposed altercation with the suspect’s sister. After demanding to see the victim’s identification, the suspects began to assault him, using a baseball bat and a stick as weapons.

The suspect sought by the police is described as having a thin build and light complexion. He was last seen wearing a distinctive outfit that included a purple skull cap, an army fatigue-style coat, a purple hooded sweatshirt, green jeans, and sneakers adorned with purple, black, and white.

Authorities urge anyone with information about the suspect or the assault to come forward to assist in the investigation and ensure the safety of the community.
