by Law and Crime Report

PHILADELPHIA, PA – In a recent incident near Temple University, two individuals were apprehended following a shooting that took place Sunday evening. The event occurred on the 1600 block of Sydenham Street at around 7 p.m., as reported by TUalert, the university’s notification system.

Upon the officers’ arrival, approximately 30 juveniles scattered from the scene. The Temple University Police Association (TUPA) has indicated that one suspect, described as wearing a pink hoodie, dreads, and a skull cap, remains at large. This situation prompted an advisory to students and staff, urging caution and avoidance of the area.

The shooting adds to a growing concern over frequent gatherings of large groups of juveniles in the area, a challenge the Temple University Police Department (TUPD) and Philadelphia Police Department (PPD) are increasingly facing without a solid plan of action. The incident underscores the need for heightened safety measures and strategies to address such occurrences.
