Laurel Man Arrested for Narcotics and Weapons Charges

LAUREL, MD – A 24-year-old Halethorpe resident, Galdino Hery Zachary Schuman, was arrested early Thursday morning on multiple charges related to narcotics and weapons violations.

The arrest occurred at approximately 1:00 a.m. on April 11, 2024, when officers on patrol in the 3400 block of Laurel Fort Meade Road noticed a gray Mazda CX-30 parked with its occupant inside. Upon checking on the individual, officers observed open alcoholic beverage containers visible within the vehicle, which prompted further investigation.

A search of the vehicle, conducted based on probable cause, led to the discovery and seizure of various items indicating drug distribution activity, including:

  • Two plastic bags containing small plastic containers for storing controlled dangerous substances.
  • One clear plastic bottle suspected to contain Promethazine or Codeine.
  • One clear glass jar and one purple plastic container, both suspected of containing either Cocaine, Fentanyl, or a combination of the two.
  • Two clear containers also suspected of containing Cocaine or Fentanyl.
  • One green metal smoking device.
  • A Sig Sauer 9mm handgun with eight rounds of ammunition.

Schuman was taken into custody and faces charges relating to the possession and intent to distribute controlled dangerous substances and weapons possession. The seized items were collected as evidence, reinforcing the Western District’s commitment to combating drug-related offenses and gun violence within the community.
