OCEAN COUNTY, NJ – Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer of Ocean County reported that Pedro Reyes-Sevilla, 32, from Kenilworth, was sentenced to ten years in New Jersey State Prison for narcotics distribution. The sentencing occurred on Thursday, presided over by the Honorable Guy P. Ryan, P.J.Cr.P. Reyes-Sevilla had entered a guilty plea to possessing five ounces or more of cocaine with intent to distribute, a charge stemming from a January 2021 investigation in Union and Ocean Counties.
The investigation, involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force and the DEA’s HIDTA/MOPOD Group 5, revealed Reyes-Sevilla’s involvement in cocaine distribution within Ocean County. On January 27, 2021, after surveillance operations in Elizabeth and Lakewood, NJ, Reyes-Sevilla was stopped and consented to a vehicle search, leading to the recovery of over one kilogram of cocaine. He was initially detained without incident and held at the Ocean County Jail, later released due to New Jersey’s Bail Reform policies.
Reyes-Sevilla was rearrested on December 1, 2022, in Union County on unrelated charges and is currently serving a concurrent sentence at New Jersey State Prison.
