An investigation is currently underway following an incident where a 15-year-old was discovered shot in Dutchess County. The occurrence took place at approximately 2:44 p.m. on Friday, April 19, at 86 Smith St. in Poughkeepsie.
Upon responding to reports of a gunshot, City of Poughkeepsie Police found the teenager with a severe gunshot wound to the leg. Officers promptly secured the location and administered immediate medical assistance, which included the application of a tourniquet.
The victim was then taken to a nearby hospital via EMS and is anticipated to make a full recovery.
A search of the area resulted in the discovery of a loaded Taurus 9mm semi-automatic handgun.
The minor involved was not disclosed due to their age. Authorities have mentioned that the investigation is ongoing and urged anyone with relevant information to contact the confidential TIP LINE at 845-451-7577. The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office offered service coverage during the incident.
