Police Disperse Pro-Palestinian Protests at NYU and Yale; Schools Heighten Security

NEW YORK, NY – Authorities were called to New York University and Yale on Monday to manage pro-Palestinian demonstrations. The response included moving some classes online and closing parts of campuses as protests expanded. At NYU, police intervened in the evening after university officials reported that demonstrators had bypassed barricades and exhibited disorderly behavior. Although it was not specified how many were detained, officers in riot gear were seen handcuffing protesters and escorting them to transport vans. The area was cleared within 30 minutes.

This unrest at NYU mirrors similar incidents at other prominent institutions, including Columbia University, where arrests occurred last week. The ongoing protests, which some claim have crossed into antisemitism, continue to challenge university administrators as they strive to balance free speech with the safety concerns of students.
