Traffic Stop Ends in Arrest and Weapon Possession Charges in Severn

SEVERN, MD – An officer’s routine traffic stop in Severn on April 29, 2024, around 12:30 a.m., led to the discovery of an open arrest warrant for a male passenger and the subsequent seizure of a firearm.

The officer halted a black 2004 GMC Yukon in the vicinity of Reece Road and Telegraph Road, where it was revealed that the male passenger, identified as Tyree Best, 40, of Brooklyn, Maryland, had an active arrest warrant. Following his apprehension, a search uncovered a 9mm Glock 19 handgun in his possession. Authorities determined that Best was legally prohibited from possessing firearms, leading to his arrest and subsequent charges.
