Spring City, PA – The Chester County District Attorney’s Office and the Spring City Police Department have announced the arrest of Daniel Montalto, Sr., 52, of Spring City, after he fired his gun multiple times during a domestic violence-related incident overnight. Montalto has been charged with Aggravated Assault and associated offenses, with no bail information currently released.
District Attorney Christopher L. de Barrena-Sarobe stated, “The Defendant assaulted his family during a standoff with the Chester County Emergency Response Team after discharging his weapon several times within his residence, emphasizing the dangers of combining domestic violence with firearms. Fortunately, no injuries occurred, ensuring the safety of the community.”
The Spring City Police Department criminal complaint details the events on the late evening of April 29. Responding officers discovered a victim with visible injuries, prompting the dispatch of an EMS Unit to the scene. Law enforcement efforts to communicate with Montalto inside the home were hindered as he continued to sporadically fire his gun, eventually surrendering at around 3:14 a.m. after the Chester County Emergency Response Team surrounded the residence.
The investigation is ongoing under the purview of the Spring City Police Department, with Deputy District Attorney Bridget C. Gallagher assigned as the prosecutor.
